Introduction

Today I noticed the free bookmark and password synchronization tool called “Xmarks” will stop the service in 2011. I just tried the tool from Mozilla called “Firefox Sync”.

The tool has all the functionalities of Xmarks. It can synchronize following browser information:

  • Bookmarks
  • Passwords
  • Firefox settings
  • History
  • Open Tabs

How to synchronize those information between your different computers?

Only for Firefox users!

  1. Visit https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10868/ and click “Add to firefox”
  2. After installing the AddOn, restart Firefox
  3. Choose “I’ve never used Sync before”
  4. Create a new account with your user name and password
  5. Choose, which information you want to synchronize
  6. That’s it

Install on other computers

For other computers, also install the AddOn like described above. But don’t choose “I’ve never used Sync before”, choose “I use Sync already on another computer”.
